Lettered ‘J’ hors commerce, one of 20 from the limited edition of 1,000 to members of the Folio Society. Printed and blocked with a design by David Eccles. Illuminated manuscript on Furioso paper with gilded edges and ribbon marker. 82 pages of full-colour facsimile plates and a colophon leaf depicting a thirteenth-century vision of the Apocalypse and the judgement of souls, as described in the biblical Book of Revelation attributed to St John the Divine. Though traditionally ascribed to him, the work is thought to have been written in the latter half of the eleventh century, with little else known of the author beyond his name. A fine production. Commentary by Nigel J. Morgan.
